This site is the gateway to my activities at the intersection of education, design and technology.

Teaching

Online material devised to support students in all aspects of their studies from individual learning activities to projects and beyond.

Study

Online outcomes, from some completed modules, of the MSc in elearning I undertook with the University of Edinburgh's School of Education.

Design

A collection of design work from current and past projects.

I'm Andrew Sides and I'm an education professional, graphic designer and student or maybe that should be lifelong learner.

Currently I teach on an undergraduate course at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design at its campus in Kings Cross, London. The course is BA (Hons) Architecture: Spaces and Objects and is concerned with all aspects of design for the built environment. My subject - Media Practice - deals with communication in all its practical forms.

I have always been interested in technology and its interface with design but I'm also keen to explore the potential for new media to impact positively on learning. To that end I completed a MSc in e-learning with the University of Edinburgh in September 2009.

Cut me however and I bleed graphic design. I spent nearly twenty years working in branding, title and moving image design, and other forms of TV-related graphics. So what ever else I might do I can't leave that part of me behind.
